END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT

Please read this agreement before using iROSLink. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms.

1. Safety

iROSLink is not certified for safety-critical applications. If you use it to control a physical robot:

  • You are solely responsible for all safety measures and risk assessment
  • You must implement hardware failsafes independent of the app
  • You must test thoroughly in controlled environments before operating near people, animals, or fragile objects
  • You must comply with all applicable local, state, and national regulations regarding autonomous vehicles and robotics
  • You acknowledge that robot operation poses inherent risks of property damage, personal injury, or death

We accept no liability whatsoever for damage, injury, loss of life, or any other harm arising directly or indirectly from the operation of robots controlled by this application, regardless of cause or negligence.

2. License Grant

We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to install and use iROSLink on Apple devices that you own or control, subject to the terms and conditions of this agreement.

This application is licensed, not sold. You do not own iROSLink; you are permitted to use it under the conditions set forth herein. We retain the right to revoke this license at any time if you breach these terms.

3. Permitted Use

You may use iROSLink for:

  • Personal use — operating a robot in your own home, private workspace, or personal laboratory for non-commercial purposes
  • Educational use — coursework, classroom instruction, university research, and student learning projects in robotics and ROS2 (see Section 3a for commercialization details)
  • Non-commercial hobbyist use — building and operating robots as a hobby, without any commercial intent, revenue generation, or expectation of profit

3a. Educational Use & Commercialization

Educational use is permitted during active coursework and research phases. However:

  • If research or educational work is later commercialized (e.g., a university spin-off, licensed patent, or startup based on work done with iROSLink), you must notify us and obtain a commercial license before commercialization.
  • Student projects that remain academic (class assignments, theses, published papers) do not require a commercial license.
  • Use by faculty or researchers to generate revenue, secure grants tied to commercial outcomes, or develop products for sale constitutes commercial use and requires licensing.

Contact [email protected] if you are uncertain whether your educational use will transition to commercial deployment.

4. Prohibited Use

The following uses are strictly prohibited under this standard license:

  • Deploying iROSLink in any commercial, corporate, industrial, or enterprise environment
  • Using iROSLink as part of any revenue-generating product, service, or business operation
  • Integrating iROSLink into products sold to, licensed to, or operated on behalf of third parties
  • Using iROSLink in fleet operations, warehouse automation, logistics, autonomous delivery, or any production environment
  • White-labeling, rebranding, or reselling iROSLink under any name or branding
  • Sublicensing, renting, leasing, or transferring your license to another party without written permission

If you are unsure whether your use qualifies as commercial, assume it does and contact us immediately before proceeding.

5. Commercial Licensing

Commercial, enterprise, white-label, and production use requires a separate written license agreement.

Response time: We will respond to commercial licensing inquiries within 10 business days (excluding weekends and public holidays). We commit to working in good faith to find licensing terms that fit your use case and business model.

6. Intellectual Property

Our IP: The iROSLink application, including its source code, algorithms, database structures, user interface design, documentation, and all associated assets remain the exclusive property of the developer. This license grants you no ownership rights, no right to modify the code, and no right to create derivative works.

Your data: Data you generate, collect, or create using iROSLink — including but not limited to maps, SLAM recordings, sensor logs, point clouds, and metadata — belongs to you. You may export, archive, or delete this data at any time. We may retain usage logs and telemetry as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. No Warranty

iROSLink is provided as is, without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including:

  • No warranty of merchantability
  • No warranty of fitness for a particular purpose
  • No warranty of non-infringement
  • No warranty of accuracy, reliability, completeness, or performance

You assume all risk of using this application. This is especially critical when iROSLink is used to control physical hardware. You are solely responsible for the safe operation, testing, and liability of any robot you build or operate using this application.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

Our total liability to you for any and all claims arising from your use of iROSLink is limited to the lesser of (a) the amount you paid for the application or (b) USD $100.

We are not liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of data, revenue, profits, business opportunity, or goodwill
  • Damage to property or equipment
  • Personal injury or death
  • Any claims arising from misuse, unsafe operation, or failure to implement proper safeguards

Exceptions: This limitation does not apply to (i) claims arising from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us, or (ii) personal injury or death claims where liability limitations are prohibited by applicable law. In jurisdictions that do not permit liability limitations, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

9. Privacy

iROSLink does not collect any data. All robot data (maps, sensor logs) stays entirely on your device.

Apple may collect anonymized crash reports through iOS if you have enabled Share iPhone Analytics in your device settings — this is outside our control. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

10. Termination

You may stop using iROSLink at any time by uninstalling it.

We reserve the right to update or discontinue iROSLink at any time. We may revoke your license if you reverse engineer the app, redistribute it, or use it in ways that violate this agreement.

11. Updates and Changes

We may update iROSLink or modify this agreement at any time. Updates are distributed through the App Store. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of any revised terms.

iROSLink includes open-source software. The relevant licenses are:

Full credits and attribution: Credits. These open-source components are governed by their respective licenses, which may impose additional obligations on you if you modify or redistribute iROSLink.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

This agreement is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflicts of law principles.

14. Severability

If any provision of this agreement is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remainder of the agreement will remain in full force.

15. Entire Agreement

This agreement, together with our Privacy Policy, constitutes the entire agreement between you and us regarding iROSLink and supersedes all prior or contemporaneous agreements, understandings, and negotiations.
